COVID-19 Updates From Burling Bank

Update: 05.08.20

We hope this update finds you and your loved ones safe and in good health.  Burling Bank continues to be fully operational and available to assist you with your financial needs during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Our dedicated staff members are doing an outstanding job of serving our clients and maintaining bank operations during this stressful time for all of us. We are very appreciative of their efforts and your cooperation.

Please read the below information to learn more about potential financial relief, managing your banking needs while observing the stay-at-home order, and protecting yourself against fraud.

Paycheck Protection Program Approvals:

We are very pleased that Burling Bank was able to get approval for ALL of the completed applications we received for Small Business PPP loans!  This was not a small task given the SBA’s evolving guidance and frequent processing interruptions.  Moreover, it highlights the importance of community banks who know their clients and can quickly respond to their needs. Burling’s team of experienced bankers stepped up in a big way and we’re very grateful for their determination and attention to detail.

While there is still much to be done as we proceed to the PPP loan forgiveness stage, we are certainly appreciative for our clients’ preparedness and willingness to collaborate to ensure a successful outcome.  If you have any questions about this process, please contact our Chief Lending Officer, Kevin Murphy, at covidrelief@burlingbank.com.

Financial Relief:

Burling Bank is here to help and we encourage clients who may be impacted to reach out to discuss how we might be of assistance.

Should you find yourself in need of assistance, please call us at 312-408-8400 or send us a secure email through Burling Bank’s online banking platform.  You may also email us at covidrelief@burlingbank.com, but please keep in mind that your message will not be delivered in a secure environment.

Social Distancing and Electronic Banking Tools:

Like you, we continue to monitor updates from the Federal, State and Local governments with an eye towards returning to some new normal.  As such, we will continue to observe the stay-at-home order through its expiration and plan accordingly for the eventual relaxing of the rules.  In the meantime, Burling Bank remains fully operational and able to address all of your banking needs.  We do ask for your cooperation to help us effectively deliver banking services while complying with Covid-19 related guidance:

We strongly encourage you to stay home and keep using the Bank’s digital tools and other resources for self-service banking and 24/7 account access. You can access your accounts online or use Burling Bank’s Mobile app at your convenience. From there, you can make payments, view transactions, check balances, deposit checks, find a surcharge-free ATM and more. These powerful and secure banking tools are provided for your benefit and convenience, at any time and from anywhere.

Please help us efficiently and safely process your banking transaction requests by submitting your request via secure email on our online banking platform.  To initiate a secure email, simply click on the mail button in the upper right-hand corner of the online banking homepage and then click on the compose tab.

If you haven’t enrolled in online access, it only takes a few minutes. Enroll now.  Please visit the resource center on our website for tutorials on how to use our electronic banking products.

While our Bank lobby will continue to be staffed by the client services team, we ask that you continue to observe social distancing and rely on phone and email whenever possible to facilitate your banking requests.  Like many of you, most of our staff continues to work remotely in compliance with the stay-at-home order.  Rest assured, we are here for you and will do our best to ensure that you have continuous access to our secure 24-hour banking system.  Unfortunately, our technology provider recently experienced a surge in activity, which contributed to intermittent service delays with online and mobile banking.  That issue has since been resolved and we do apologize for any inconvenience you may have encountered.

Protect Yourself Against Fraud:

Finally, in times like these, please be watchful for those who will seize the opportunity to cheat or defraud the unwary. Monitor your accounts carefully and be suspicious of any unexpected emails or calls that ask for your account numbers, passwords or other personal information. Call us immediately if you find anything amiss with your accounts. To learn more please visit www.burlingbank.com/safeguard.

As a family business, we’re acutely aware of your need to prioritize the well-being of yourself and your family along with your professional endeavors, and it’s often a challenge to effectively manage both under the best of circumstances.  As your trusted banking partner, we’re very grateful for the opportunity to be of service to you and your business. Please don’t hesitate to call on us if we can be of assistance.

Be safe and be well!

Social Distancing and Electronic Banking Tools:

As many of you know, Governor Pritzker extended the “stay-at-home” order through April 30th for the residents of Illinois.  Banks are deemed “essential service businesses” and we want you to know that Burling Bank will remain fully operational.  We are well prepared for these types of situations and able to fully service your banking needs. We do ask that you make some adjustments to help us navigate this challenge.

While our Bank lobby will continue to be staffed by the client services team, we ask that you avoid coming into the branch and rely on phone and email to facilitate your banking requests.  Like many of you, most of our staff is working remotely in an effort to flatten the curve.  Rest assured, we are here for you and will do our best to make sure that you don’t experience any banking disruptions.  Today’s circumstances may present some unique challenges, but the Bank remains fully operational and the entire staff has stepped up and is ready to serve your needs.
